Tata Steel Long Products Limited (TSLPL) is a subsidiary of Tata Steel Limited. It was incorporated in 1982 and provides consultancy services focusing on design/project engineering, project management and project implementation. It has a sponge iron manufacturing facility and captive power plants generating power from waste heat and thermal coal. In 1991, Tata Steel acquired IPICOL’s stake and at present, the company is a sister company of TISCO. With its base in Bilaipada near Joda in the Keonjhar District of Orissa, it achieved ISO9002 Certification and won the first prize for quality from Confederation of Indian Industry Eastern Region and the Second Prize for total quality management from Indian Institute of Metal in the DR category in the year 1998-99. To meet growing demand, TSIL doubled its capacity from 90000 TPA to 240000 TPA by 1998-99 and the capacity was further enhanced to 840000 tonnes per annum in 2004-2005 with the installation of 6 Klins. In December 2001, the company commissioned a 7.5 MW captive power plant and towards 2006-07, it increased to 26 MW with the installation of two more power plants. During 2020-21, TSIL acquired a 93.71% stake in Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) for a total consideration of Rs 1,21,00 crore. With this commitment to modernise and expand its business model, TSLPL is creating even better opportunities for the valuable stakeholders.
