About HEG Ltd

HEG Limited, based in Madhya Pradesh, India, is a leading manufacturer and exporter of graphite electrodes to more than 30 countries and operates the world's largest single-site integrated graphite plant. The company’s product line includes two grades of graphite electrodes; High Power and Ultra High Power, which are tailored to meet customer requirements. The company is backed by respected steel manufactures, such as ArcelorMittal POSCO, Thyssenkrupp US Steel, Nucor and Usinor. HEG has a total rated capacity of 76.5 MW for power generation and the surplus is sold in the open market.

HEG was incorporated in 1972 and it started as an importer. In the early 90s, the company invested in a 100% export oriented cotton mill. During 1997, they expanded the graphite division to 24,000 tons and commissioned a 13.5 MW hydroelectric plant. This was the first hydroelectric project of its kind in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

In 2007, HEG sold its steel business to Jai Balaji Industries. At the end of 2015, the company took major initiatives for qualitative improvements and cost cutting measures. Thanks to their efforts, their FY 2018/19 was a record breaking year; they registered their highest net profit of Rs 1081.34 crore. Additionally, they decreased their debt and invested their cash surpluses in avenues that sustain growth. The Board of Directors also made an investment to buy 3,235,1004 shares in Bhilwara Energy Ltd. in April 2019, increasing their stake to 49%.
