"SoFi Technologies is an online organization for personal finance based in San Francisco, USA. It was established in 2011 by Mike Cagney, Dan Macklin, James Finnigan, and Ian Brady from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. It is also the parent company of SoFi (Social Finance, Inc.), offering a range of financial services. These include personal loans, student loans, credit cards, mortgages, investing, and banking via mobile and desktop apps. It offers a range of products related to lending, investment (under the name SoFi Active Investing), cryptocurrency trading, Banking, Credit Score Monitoring, budgeting tool, and Insurance. SoFi announced an agreement with Barclays and Morgan Stanley in 2013 to construct a bond backed by peer-to-peer student loans, which would be the first credit-rated securitization of these loans. In 2016, SoFi became the first startup online credit company with a AAA rating by Moody’s. SoFi Relay, a credit score monitoring and budgeting tool, is available to anyone who registers a free SoFi account. The service allows users to track their money in bank, credit card, investment, and loan balances and transactions as well as set financial goals. No-cost credit score tracking with weekly updates is provided through TransUnion. After merging with SPAC, the company went public with a valuation of 9 billion USD in the year 2021. After going public, its total valuation increased by 12%. In January, 2022, the company obtained approval from OCC for being a “national bank-charter”.
