Company Information

Electronic Arts were created in 1982 by Apple executives. The business focuses on creating and distributing software games for personal computers. To develop their first video game, EA started with a team of 11 people and $5 million in funding from private investors. The company later developed software for the Apple II and Commodore Amiga computers. EA spent 50% of each product's development costs on retooling it to work on new hardware systems. EA went public in September 1989, with a market capitalization of around $84 million. In 1987, Electronic Arts opened a production plant in Langley, England. Sales were $63.5 million in 1989, while net income increased from $1.3 million to $4 million. EA bought Playdemic Studios from Warner Bros. Interactive for $1.4 billion in June 2021. Blake Jorgensen, the company's current CFO and COO, will be stepping down by the middle of 2022.
