About Western India Plywoods Ltd

Western India Plywoods Ltd, a Kochi based wood processing company was incorporated in 1945 and has grown over the years to become the largest integrated wood processing complex in India. It manufactures Plywood Hardboard and Densified Wood. The company has an installed capacity of 3,4750 MTPA for Hardboard, and additionally manufactures UF PF, Resins, Resorcinol Formaldehyde, Glass Reinforced Plastics, Prefinished Boards, DAP resin, Monomer UV Top Coat and Base Coat. In 1978, the company set up a plant for manufacturing Diallyl Phthalate DAP Moulding powder, and in 1989 established another plant for direct printing wood grains and plain colours onto Hardboards and Plywoods using UV radiation cured surface finishes. Western India Plywoods is the first company to obtain ISO 9002 certification for Hardboards and Prefinished Boards. Moreover, in 2003 the company experienced a major fire accident, destroying a substantial portion of the factory products and machinery items and equipments, however in the same year the company implemented an aggressive marketing strategy to increase its premium product sales.
