What is short selling?
Selling a stock that you do not own at the time of the trade.
With reference to NSE Circular No. NSE/CMTR/66895 dated February 28, 2025, retail investors must disclose any short sell transactions by the end of trading hours on the trade day to their broker. Trading Members are mandated to collect client-wise, scrip-wise short sell details and upload them to the Exchange before the commencement of trading on the following day.
When should a client inform short sell details?
The client is required to inform the short sell details on the same day the trade is executed.
