Objectives of IPO

  1. Lalithaa Jewellery Mart Limited is launching its IPO with a total size of up to ₹1,700 crore. The IPO will include a fresh issue (new shares issued by the company) of up to ₹1,200 crore and an offer for sale (existing shares sold by current owners) of up to ₹500 crore. The money from the fresh issue will go to the company to fund its growth and business needs, while the offer for sale proceeds will go directly to M. Kiran Kumar Jain, the promoter. The fresh issue proceeds will be used for the following purposes.
  2. The company has set aside ₹1,033.23 crore from the fresh issue to open 10 new stores across India. This includes ₹34.55 crore for store fit-outs, such as furniture, fire alarms, electrical equipment, and computer software, and ₹998.68 crore to buy the initial jewellery inventory needed to stock the stores. To support its expansion, the company plans to open 5 showrooms in FY27 and another 5 in FY28. These new stores will be leased, following the company’s usual asset-light model, which means it avoids tying up large amounts of money in owning store properties. The showrooms are expected to average around 11,000 square feet and are planned for cities such as Chennai, Hosur, Kumbakonam, Viluppuram, Dindigul, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Hyderabad, and Belgaum. As of March 31, 2026, the company operated 61 stores across 51 cities, so these 10 new stores would meaningfully expand its physical presence.
  3. The remaining fresh issue proceeds will be used for general corporate needs. This money will support everyday business needs, including strengthening its marketing efforts, paying employee salaries, and covering routine administrative and maintenance expenses.

Lalithaa Jewellery Mart has delivered strong financial growth, with operating revenue rising at a 22.1% CAGR from ₹16,788.05 crore in FY24 to ₹25,023.93 crore in FY26. Growth was slow in FY25, at just 0.65%, as lower gold volumes sold offset the benefit of higher average gold prices. But revenue jumped 48.09% in FY26, helped by higher gold prices, stronger gold volumes, and the addition of a new store. Net profit also rose sharply at a 67.5% CAGR to ₹1,009.82 crore in FY26. At the same time, operating EBITDA margin, which shows how much profit the business makes from its core operations, improved from 4.05% in FY24 to 6.69% in FY26 as sales grew faster than costs. Net profit margin also increased from 2.14% to 4.04%.

The company’s asset base grew rapidly at a 45.3% CAGR, rising from ₹5,182.26 crore to ₹10,945.14 crore. Most of this increase came from inventory, which reached ₹9,816.28 crore in FY26. According to the RHP, the jump mainly reflected the higher value of gold held in stock as gold prices rose and remained volatile. To fund new stores, inventory needs, and day-to-day operations, total borrowings also increased from ₹824.18 crore in FY24 to ₹1,604.14 crore in FY26.

Meanwhile, cash flow from operating activities fell sharply, from a positive ₹288.73 crore in FY25 to a negative ₹397.76 crore in FY26. In simple words, the business used more cash than it generated from regular operations. The main reason was the higher working capital needed to hold more valuable gold inventory as prices moved up, along with higher settlement of trade payables.

Strengths and Risks

Strengths

Strengths

  • Its revenue per store reached an industry-leading ₹410.23 crore in FY26, up from ₹281.62 crore in FY25. In simple words, each store is generating a lot more sales, helping the company use its stores efficiently and deliver stronger returns than its peers.

  • In FY26, it reported a strong Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) of 42.60%, showing how efficiently it turns the money invested in the business into profits. Net profit also grew at an impressive 67.52% compound annual growth rate, rising from ₹359.83 crore in FY24 to ₹1,009.82 crore in FY26.

  • It makes more than 79% of its products in-house, with 79.11% made by its own Karigars in FY26 across two factories. By cutting out third-party markups and keeping wastage very low, the company can offer lower prices to value-conscious customers, giving its brand a strong pull.

  • Its monthly jewellery purchase schemes collected ₹5,042.75 crore in customer advances in FY26, up from ₹3,145.41 crore in FY25. That is equal to 20.15% of total sales and gives the company a more predictable pool of future revenue.

  • It operates large-format stores, with the highest average store size of 10,670.18 square feet in FY26. Flagship locations, such as its Vijayawada showroom with a carpet area of 100,000 square feet, can offer a much wider jewellery collection than many local standalone competitors.

  • The company has a strong focus on non-metro markets, with 45 of its 61 stores located in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, which contributed 60.25% of its FY26 revenue. This gives it a chance to benefit as customers increasingly move from local, unorganized jewellers to established jewellery brands.

Risks

Risks

  • All 61 of its stores are located in South India, leaving the business heavily exposed to regional risks. Tamil Nadu alone contributed 53.98% of its FY26 revenue, or ₹13,507.88 crore. Any major regional disruption or economic slowdown could therefore have a big impact on overall performance.

  • It reported negative cash flow from operations of ₹397.76 crore in FY26 and ₹18 crore in FY24. In simple words, more cash was going out of the business than coming in from its regular operations, mainly because of working capital needs and high inventory levels during periods of volatile gold prices.

  • Unlike some competitors, the company does not hedge against gold price movements or use gold metal loans. This leaves it fully exposed to changes in global gold prices, which could result in large inventory losses or lower profit margins if prices fall sharply.

  • The business needs to keep a large amount of jewellery in stock, with inventory days rising from 93 days in FY24 to 143 days in FY26. This means cash stays tied up in inventory for longer, with ₹9,816.28 crore locked in stock, equal to 96.81% of its current assets and 39.23% of revenue in FY26.

  • The company depends heavily on one product category, with gold jewellery accounting for 92.33% of operating revenue, or ₹23,104.73 crore, in FY26. Any shortage of gold or fall in customer demand could directly affect its financial performance.

  • The company relies heavily on a small number of suppliers, with its top three vendors accounting for 58.03% of total raw material costs in FY26. Losing a key supplier or facing supply delays could disrupt production and potentially affect customer trust.

  • While competitors are increasingly using both online and offline channels, the company currently earns no revenue from online sales. Its heavy dependence on physical showrooms could become a disadvantage as e-commerce and digital shopping continue to grow rapidly in India.

About Lalithaa Jewellery Mart

Lalithaa Jewellery Mart Limited is a South Indian jewellery powerhouse that makes buying precious jewellery simple and affordable for everyday families. In simple words, it designs, makes, and sells gold, silver, and diamond jewellery, along with everyday silverware such as spoons and dishes.

It sells these products directly to value-conscious families through its network of large and medium-sized physical showrooms. Its main customers are everyday households, with a strong focus on working women across South India.

Rather than buying finished jewellery from third parties, it makes more than 79% of its products in-house with skilled artisans, known as Karigars, across two factories in Tamil Nadu. By managing everything from design to sales, it keeps wastage very low and cuts out middleman costs, allowing it to pass much of those savings on to customers through lower prices.

This transparent pricing approach is one of its biggest strengths. In FY26, the company generated a massive ₹25,023.93 crore in revenue, with gold jewellery contributing ₹23,104.73 crore, or 92.33% of total sales. Its showrooms are also highly productive, generating an industry-leading ₹410.23 crore per store in FY26.

Another important part of its business is its flexible monthly saving schemes, such as Dhana Vandhanam. Customers make monthly deposits for 11 months and later use them to buy jewellery, while also saving on value addition charges - the fees charged for making the jewellery. As of March 31, 2026, more than 473,412 customers were actively enrolled in these schemes. They brought in ₹5,042.75 crore in advance collections, giving the company a more predictable pipeline of future sales.

As of March 31, 2026, the company operated 61 physical stores across 51 cities, following an asset-light model in which 58 stores are leased. To support its next phase of growth, it plans to use ₹1,033.23 crore of its IPO proceeds to open 10 new stores by FY28, further expanding its presence across South India.
