Bombay Stock Exchange or BSE is an Indian stock exchange established in 1875. Located on Dalal Street in Mumbai, it is the oldest stock exchange in Asia. BSE is also the first stock exchange recognized by the government of India in 1957. Almost 30 years after its recognition, BSE launched its S&P BSE SENSEX index to measure the exchange’s overall performance.
BSE made a huge transition in 1995 by switching from manual floor trading to electronic trading system. The exchange takes and executes millions of orders daily and operates from Monday to Friday. It remains closed on Saturday and Sunday and on holidays announced in advance. The BSE holidays 2021 features all the holidays of the calendar year.
