About Sanofi India Ltd

Sanofi India Limited (formerly Aventis Pharma) is one of the leading multinational companies (MNCs) in the Indian Pharmaceutical Market. It produces medicines for diabetes, cardiology, thrombosis, epilepsy, allergies, infections, vitamins, central nervous system and antihistamines. Its top products - Lantus, Combiflam, Amaryl and Allegra - feature among the top 100 pharmaceutical brands in India. Sanofi India has 2 own manufacturing facilities in Goa and Ankleshwar in Gujarat and sells products through independent distributors, primarily in India. Sanofi and Hoechst GmbH are the major shareholders of Sanofi India Limited holding 60.4% of its paid-up share capital. In the past few decades, the company has gone through several transformations, launched numerous products and merged/acquired a joint venture and a subsidiary company. In 2020, Sanofi India closed the transaction of slump sale and transfer of its Ankleshwar manufacturing facility to Zentiva Private Limited. In 2021, Sanofi India sold its Nutraceuticals business on a going concern basis to Universal Nutriscience Private Limited for a consideration of ₹5,870 million.
