The Indian stock market will remain open on Sunday, 1 February 2026, due to the Union Budget 2026. Even though it is a weekend, NSE and BSE will conduct a special trading session so investors and traders can react to Budget announcements in real time.

While trading will happen as usual, settlement and withdrawals will work differently on this day. This blog explains all Budget Day trading rules in simple terms so you know exactly how your trades and money will be handled.

Market Timings on Budget Day

On Sunday, 1 February 2026, the Equity and Derivatives markets will be open from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM. Trading will function normally during these hours across segments.

Trading and Settlement Rules on Budget Day

  • Trading and Settlement: All trades executed on Sunday, 1 February 2026 will be settled on Monday, 2 February 2026. Same-day settlement is not available because 1 February is a settlement holiday. Any after-market orders placed after 3:30 PM on Friday, 30 January will be placed when the market opens on Sunday.
  • Withdrawals: Withdrawals will not be processed on Sunday. You may place a withdrawal request on Budget Day, but the amount will be credited to your bank account only on Monday, 2 February 2026.
  • Selling Restrictions: Stocks bought on Friday, 30 January cannot be sold on Sunday. These stocks can be sold only from Monday, 2 February, once settlement starts moving forward.

How Friday Trades Affect Your Wallet on Sunday

If you traded on Friday, 30 January, the impact on your wallet on Sunday depends on the type of trade you made. Since settlement is deferred to Monday, most Friday trades do not release funds on Sunday.

Intraday Equity Trades on Friday

Example: Buy shares for ₹10,000 on Friday, 30 January, Sell the same day for ₹11,000

The ₹1,000 profit will not be available on Sunday. It will be added to your wallet only on Monday, 2 February, and will be withdrawable from that day.

Intraday F&O Trades on Friday

Example: Buy options for ₹10,000 on Friday, Sell the same day for ₹11,000

The ₹1,000 profit will be credited to your wallet only on Monday, 2 February. It cannot be used for trading or withdrawal on Sunday.

BTST Trades Sold on Friday

Example: Buy shares for ₹10,000 on Thursday, 29 January, Sell on Friday, 30 January for ₹11,000

The full ₹11,000 sale amount will be credited only on Monday, 2 February.

MTF Holdings Sold on Friday

Example: Sell MTF shares worth ₹10,000 on Friday, The ₹10,000 sale amount will be credited to your wallet only on Monday, 2 February.

Options Sold on Friday

Example: Buy options for ₹10,000 on Thursday, Sell on Friday for ₹11,000Or simply sell option for Rs. 11,000 on Friday

The ₹11,000 will not be available for trading on Sunday. The amount will become tradable and withdrawable only on Monday, as per exchange rules.

Money Is Available for Trading on Sunday

If you sold stocks on Friday that were bought on or before Wednesday, 28 January, the sale amount will be available for trading on Sunday.

For example, if you bought shares for ₹10,000 on Wednesday, 28 January and sold them on Friday, 30 January for ₹12,000, the ₹12,000 can be used for trading on Sunday. However, this amount cannot be withdrawn on Sunday and will be withdrawable only on Monday, 2 February.
