The government of India has made it necessary to link Aadhaar with mutual funds. The step to include mutual funds in the list of financial products that should be linked with an Aadhaar card is taken to ensure the legality of the transactions or the money that is being invested in mutual funds.

Mutual funds Aadhaar link is made mandatory through an amendment in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act Rules, 2017. The rule also states that investors who fail to link Aadhaar to mutual funds will be barred from making further investments, and redeeming their existing investment until their mutual funds Aadhaar linking is done. In this article, we will learn all the possible ways how to link Aadhaar with mutual funds.

There are a total of four ways of linking Aadhaar to mutual fund-

  • Mutual Fund Registrars
  • Fund Houses
  • Through SMS
  • Offline

There are different mutual fund registrars that maintain the details of all transactions of the mutual fund investors. This helps mutual fund houses and asset management companies to easily track and have a record of all the investments/redemptions done by their investors. Some mutual fund houses themselves do the work of the registrar while others appoint a third party registrar to maintain all the records related to mutual fund transactions. You can visit the website of these registrars and easily do Aadhaar linking to mutual funds within a few steps.
