Buying an equity fund, a debt fund and a gold fund is relatively straightforward. Deciding how much to put into each, and when to change those proportions, is harder. Navi Multi Asset Omni FoF offers to make those decisions within a single investment.
This actively managed allocation strategy makes decisions for investors, even when underlying investments are index funds. Its NFO ran from 19 October to 2 November 2026, so the subscription window had already closed by the research cutoff.
How Will Navi Multi Asset Omni FoF Allocate Your Money?
A fund of funds, or FoF, buys units of other funds. Investors in Navi Multi Asset Omni FoF therefore own a portfolio of fund units, which provide exposure to the underlying shares, bonds and precious metals.

The eligible-fund list spans several AMCs, including HDFC Flexicap Fund, Navi’s equity funds, SBI Dynamic Bond Fund and gold ETFs. These are permitted choices, not confirmed holdings. Silver is also permitted.
The SID excludes direct overseas securities. It would therefore be misleading to present this as a fund promising international diversification.
Does Its Benchmark Tell You the Actual Allocation?
The benchmark combines 35% Nifty 500 TRI, 35% Nifty Composite Debt Index, 25% domestic gold prices and 5% domestic silver prices. It measures results, without requiring that precise portfolio mix.
The SID allows active rebalancing within the permitted bands. It does not disclose a mechanical formula requiring allocation changes at specified valuation levels. Investors are relying on the manager’s judgement about both asset allocation and fund selection.
That distinction matters during a rally. A lower equity allocation may reduce participation in rising shares, while a higher allocation can increase losses when markets weaken. Diversification changes the sources of risk; it does not remove them.
How Does It Compare With Existing Multi-Asset Alternatives?
DSP Multi Asset Omni Fund of Funds and Groww Multi Asset Omni FOF already offer comparable combinations of equity funds, debt funds and precious-metal exposure. Their existence means the underlying idea is available outside this launch. DSP describes a discretionary allocation process informed by its Netra research; Groww also uses a FoF structure.
Holding separate equity, debt and gold funds gives investors control and avoids another management layer, but requires fund selection and rebalancing. Selling units to rebalance can also create taxable gains.
Within a FoF, changes to underlying holdings do not themselves mean the investor has redeemed their FoF units. That can simplify administration. It does not make the investor’s eventual redemption tax-free.
What Are the Costs, Risks and Tax Rules?
Investors bear expenses at the FoF level and indirectly through its underlying funds. Underlying expenses are already reflected in those funds’ NAVs; they are not a separate invoice. The relevant comparison is the combined cost of obtaining the same exposure. A verified ongoing Direct/Regular TER was not established from the launch documents, whose estimates must not be presented as a live fee.
The scheme carries a Very High Risk label. Equity declines, bond-credit problems and falling metal prices can all affect it. Several underlying equity funds may also hold the same companies, limiting the diversification gained from adding more fund names.
For a resident individual, this multi-asset FoF should not automatically be assigned equity-fund taxation. Under the rules applicable from FY 2025–26, a qualifying non-equity, unlisted fund outside the specified-debt-fund rules generally receives 12.5% long-term capital-gains treatment after more than 24 months, without indexation; shorter holdings are taxed at applicable slab rates. Section 50AA can instead apply if annual-average investment in qualifying debt funds reaches 65%. Surcharge and cess are additional. Confirm the scheme’s actual tax classification.
What Should You Check Before Considering This Fund?
Start with your existing asset mix. If it already contains substantial equity and gold, this FoF could add overlapping exposure rather than solve a missing allocation.
Then assess whether you want to delegate allocation, whether its eventual combined costs are acceptable, and whether you can tolerate losses across market cycles. The ₹10 NFO price was simply the starting unit denomination, not evidence that the assets were cheap. With no established scheme track record at launch, the manager’s future allocation discipline remains something to observe.
