- Institutional demand was the strongest part of the issue. QIBs subscribed 172.027 times, meaning the shares available to this category were demanded more than 172 times over.
- Retail participation was also strong at 12.958x, but it was much lower than QIB and NII demand. This shows that the heavy overall subscription was not driven by retail investors alone.
- The 71.26x overall subscription creates a highly competitive allotment process. For oversubscribed categories, having a valid application does not mean shares will definitely be received. Allotment depends on the applicable category-wise rules and the number of valid applications.
What’s Next After Allotment?
If shares are allotted
Your allotment status should become visible once the registrar completes the process. If you receive shares, they are expected to be credited to your Demat account on August 31, 2026, according to the tentative timetable.
You may receive all the shares you applied for or only part of them, depending on the category, demand, and applicable allotment rules. With the IPO subscribed 71.26x overall, investors should not assume that a successful application means a full allotment.
After the shares are credited, the next major event is the proposed listing on September 1, 2026.
If shares are not allotted
If you do not receive shares, the amount blocked through your UPI mandate should be released as part of the refund or unblock process. The tentative refund date is August 31, 2026.
The key reason for disappointment in a heavily oversubscribed IPO is simple: there are far more valid bids than shares available. In such cases, many investors can receive no shares even when they have applied correctly.
If you still want to own Symbiotec Pharmalab after the IPO, another option is to buy the shares after listing. However, the market price on listing day can be above or below the IPO price, so the decision should be based on the company's valuation and fundamentals rather than the subscription figure alone.
Final Word
The 71.26x subscription shows very strong demand, but it also means allotment is highly competitive, particularly because QIB and NII demand was exceptionally high.
Check your status through MUFG Intime, BSE or NSE once the allotment data is updated, and if you receive no shares, remember that missing an IPO allotment does not mean missing the company altogether.
