Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is a government-owned company that makes and maintains fighter jets, helicopters, engines, and other aircraft systems. It mainly works for India’s armed forces, but also supports the space sector, civil aviation, and exports. HAL started in 1940 and is now one of India’s most important defence and aerospace companies.
As of March 2025, HAL had an order book worth ₹1.89 lakh crore. This means it has contracts in hand to deliver products and services in the coming years. Major orders include:
HAL also received ₹19,271 crore for repair and maintenance work and ₹3,180 crore for design and development projects.
In 2024-25, HAL earned ₹30,105 crore in revenue.
