MRF Limited (Madras Rubber Factory Limited) was founded in 1946 by K. M. Mammen Mappillai. It started its journey as a toy balloon manufacturer and expanded its product line with latex cast toys, gloves, and contraceptives and became the market leader in of tread rubber by 1956 with 50% share. In 1961, it became a public company, later in 1960s, its started manufacturing tyres and now is a leading manufacturer of tyres in the country.
MRF manufactures products including tyres, treads, tubes, and conveyor belts and serves both domestic and international markets. MRF operates across multiple countries and has several sub-brands, such as MRF Tyres, MRF Muscleflex, and MRF ZSLK.
