About Tata Investment Corporation Ltd

Tata Investment Corporation is a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) promoted by Tata Sons and is registered with the RBI under the category of Investment Company. It specializes in investment in equity shares and debt instruments of companies from various industries, mutual funds and also holds a stake in the Tata Mutual Fund. As on March 31st, 2008, its portfolio was worth 8881.91 million. It was founded in 1937 and publicly listed on the BSE in 1959. It was one of the first private sector companies to be a member of the OTC Exchange of India in 1992. In 1995, its name was changed to Tata Investment Corporation and it was listed in the NSE in 1998. In 2005, they acquired 49.9% shareholding of the TD Waterhouse Group and established the Tata Securities Limited for the distribution of mutual funds. In 2018, Tata Sons Ltd acquired 5 million shares and the company became a subsidiary. That same year, they completed a stock exchange buyback of 4.5 million equity shares for 450 crores.
