About Maharashtra Scooters Ltd

Priya Scooters Maharashtra Scooters was established in Pune in June 1975 by Western Maharashtra Development Corporation and Bajaj Auto. It released its first public issue in November 1977 and began commercial production in August 1976. The agreement with Bajaj Auto was for 10 years or until a total production of 300,000 scooters, which ever happened first. In 1986 the installed capacity was increased to 350,000 before expanding further to 1.5 million in the 1990s. In 1999, they invested in a Pretreatment-cum-Cathodic Electro Deposition Plant for eco-friendly production. The company was awarded ISO 9001 and 14001 in 2000 before being recertified in 2004. In 2019, WMDC transferred its entire 27 stake in the company to Bajaj Holdings and Investment Ltd, increasing its shareholding and making the company its subsidiary. Currently, the company manufactures components and die casting dies for the automotive industry, in addition to managing surplus funds.
