RailTel Corporation of India Limited is a significant entity in the telecommunications and information technology sectors, founded by the Ministry of Railways in September 2000. Headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana, and registered under CIN U64202HR2000GOI034322, RailTel utilizes the extensive fiber-optic network along railway tracks to provide services such as broadband, VPNs, Internet leased lines, managed cloud services, and telecom infrastructure.

In addition to offering free Wi-Fi at over 6,000 railway stations across India, RailTel is involved in implementing e-office solutions for government organizations, which streamline office processes and improve efficiency. The company has also developed a National Knowledge Network (NKN) to connect educational institutions across India, facilitating high-speed data transfer and research collaboration.
