About The Peria Karamalai Tea & Produce Company Ltd

The Peria Karamalai Tea and Produce Company is a long established tea company originally incorporated in 1910. It produces tea and cardamom on its estates located in one of the highest yielding zones. After making multiple shipments of tea to the London Auction, the company made further improvements toward better upkeep productivity in 1990-91 when it modernized its three factories. The following year, 1992, the company launched a rights issue of premium Rs. 50 in order to install and improve its wind turbine generators and allied services. By 1994-95, three turbines had been installed. In 1995-96 there was a net profit of Rs. 2.04 crore as against the previous year’s loss of Rs 1.03 crore. The following year, 1997, the company experienced a stagnation in the tea industry and subsequent decrease in cardamom production due to unfavorable weather conditions. Finally, in 2001, production of 4546826 Kgs slightly improved from the previous year's 4451210 Kgs.
