About Indong Tea Company Ltd

Indong Tea Company Limited was established in 1990 as a Private Limited Company. The Company is known for its plantation and production of CTC Crush/Cut/Tear/Curl Tea in the Dooars region of West Bengal. In 2014, it was taken over by Asian Group, promoted by Sri Hariram Garg. The Tea Estate sprawls over an area of 740.38 Hectares and comprises of a tea plantation, tea factory, bungalows, quarters, and other structures. The tea is grown on steep slopes in loose, deep soil at high altitudes and higher elevations. It takes approx. 2000 tiny leaves to make one pound of finished tea. Tea production comprises of two processes; Orthodox and Unorthodox. Orthodox tea is made from five basic steps, with modern and traditional methods of processing involved. Unorthodox tea production, the most common type being CTC, is a much faster process. The leaves are macerated, curled, and rolled into balls. These teas are primarily used to make tea bags and Masala Chai blends.
