Pfizer Limited is a leading pharmaceutical company that has been active in India since 1950, and has built up a strong portfolio with 43 manufacturing sites in 125 countries. They have 6 primary therapeutic areas including Oncology, Hospital Vaccines, Inflammation and Immunology, and have managed to keep up with cutting-edge technology with research and clinical trials. Over the years Pfizer Limited has seen many changes, from a Merger with ParkeDavis in 2002 and the closure of a manufacturing plant at Ankleshwar in 1999 to being the first company to introduce hormone replacement therapy and conjugated pneumococcal vaccines in India. In 2015 the plant located at Thane Belapur Road Navi Mumbai was transferred to a going concern with the sale to Vidhi Research and Development LLP, and in 2017 Pfizer acquired the brand Neksium with active ingredient Esomeprazole. The Goa plant was recognized with the India Manufacturing Excellence Award-Future Ready Factory of the Year Award 2017 and the Pfizer's President's Platinum Award for 2017. Pfizer Inc. USA, the Ultimate Holding Company, completed the transaction of combining its Upjohn Business with Mylan N.V. in 2019. Currently the company earns a revenue of Rs 176 Crore (nine months period ended in 2019) for their Corex brand, with Rs 244 Crore in profit for the financial year ending in 2016. Pfizer Limited continues to innovate and grow in the Indian market.
