About Mahanagar Gas Ltd

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) is the largest city gas distributor in India, operating in Mumbai-Thane urban, adjoining municipalities and Raigad district in Maharashtra. MGL is the sole distributor of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG). As of March 31, 2017, the company supplied CNG to over 545,505 vehicles and PNG connections to 948,892 domestic households, 3218 commercial and 62 industrial consumers in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. MGL was incorporated in 1995, as a joint venture between the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), the BG Group UK (formerly British Gas) and the Government of Maharashtra and has since connected over 4,838 kms of pipelines for CNG and PNG distribution. In 2017-18, it achieved the landmark of having a net worth in excess of Rs 2000 crores. MGL also provides outreach services to its customers, such as call center for grievances, CNG fueled two-wheelers in Mumbai, PGN supply operation to Uran in the Raigad district, and 200th CNG station opened in the Mumbai Metropolitan region.
