About CESC Ltd

CESC Ltd or The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation India Ltd is the first ever fully integrated electrical utility company in India, established in 1899. It serves 3.5 million customers and has 3 generating stations with a capacity of 1125 MW. The company has undertaken several measures to provide safe, cost-effective and reliable energy to its consumers. These include a single retail store in Gujarat, MOU with Neyveli Lignite Corporation and MECON, establishing new subsidiaries like Bantal Singapore Pte Ltd and CESC Projects Pvt Ltd, and signing agreements with other companies like Indiabulls Group, RPG Group, JVVNL, JdVVNL, Silver Spring, PTC, etc. In 2012, they acquired two hydroelectric power projects in Arunachal Pradesh of 146 MW combined capacity. Associates have given the company award due to its efficient operations and step taken to reduce pollution. It had also installed AMR meters for remote metering of its HT consumers LT consumers and distribution transformers and converted existing Extra High Voltage EHV outdoor substations to indoor GIS substations to increase the capacity of their stations. The Composite Scheme of Arrangement under Sections 230 to 232 and other applicable provisions of the Companies Act 2013 was made effective from 1st October 2017. At the end of 202122, the company had eighteen subsidiaries and had installed 1.5 lakh meters and 24000 smart meters to improve quality and reliability.
