About VSF Projects Ltd

Vijaya Shrimp Farms and Export Ltd was established in Jun.92 and issued a public issue, Dec.93, to set up an acqua culture farm in Andhra Pradesh to grow Black Tiger variety as 100 EOU. Their hatchery was then closed in 199697 due to reduction in demand for seeds and damaged due to cyclonic rain and flooding in October 1996. These effects were compounded by viral diseases affecting some ponds in the subsequent year, leading to spread of the disease across the entire Coastal belt and no harvest in 19992000. The hatchery was reopened in Apr. 1998, though it had to be closed again later for repair work. Operations resumed Jan. 1999, yet due to viral attack the unit was forced to close again by Jun. 99. Finally, the company went for a crop holiday, and hatched operations restarted Apr. 2000.
