Company Information

Established in 1986, Vinyl Chemicals I is a public limited company that specializes in the manufacture of Vinyl Acetate Monomers (VAM). The firm is a part of the Parekh group, renowned for producing the widely used Fevicol brand of adhesives, synthetics resins, binders, surfactants, and pigments, and is also connected to the government-owned enterprise SICOM. The technology to design, produce, and function VAM was provided by Uhde GmbH Germany, a subsidiary of Hoechst. VAM is used to make a variety of polyvinyl products, such as acetate, alcohol, ethylene vinyl copolymer, and acrylic copolymer. Around 45% of Vinyl Chemicals I's product is sold to Pidilite Industries, the group concern, and other associated corporations. In May 1999, the production capacity was increased to 16,400 tons. In 200102, the company undertook debottlenecking and expanded the capacity to 24,500 tons with the help of Krupp Uhde GmbH Germany. An oxygen/nitrogen set-up was also installed and commissioned in February 2002.
