About TECIL Chemical & Hydro Power Ltd

Established in 1945, Tecil Chemicals Hydro Power TCPL is an India-based company that manufactures a variety of chemical products, including calcium carbide, acetylene black, ferro silicon, and desulphurisation compounds. In the late 1990s, the company ventured into power generation by setting up two hydel power projects for captive power consumption. With the products they manufacture being power-intensive, ensuring an uninterrupted and adequate supply of power from their captive units is expected to enhance its performance and provide an edge over its competitors. The company has upgraded its calcium carbide and ferro-silicon plants with the help of Elkem Metallurgy Norway and the Ullynka Power Project was completed in 1999. To fund the projects, Tecil plans to issue preference shares worth Rs. 900 lacs through a private placement. However, progress on the Ullynkal and Karikkayyam power projects were not seen in the 200102 fiscal.
