About Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd

Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd is an Indian government-owned company engaged in the manufacture and sale of basic organic chemicals essential for industries like drugs, laminates, resins and paints. The company has two manufacturing units at Rasayani in Maharashtra and Kochi in Kerala, and a subsidiary at Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. It produces Phenol, Acetone, Nitrobenzene, Aniline, Nitrotoluenes, Chlorobenzenes and Nitrochlorobenzenes and uses mainly Benzene, Toluene, LPG, Methanol, Naphtha and Sulfur as raw materials. Established in 1960 with the aim of becoming self-reliant in organic chemicals, the company has since expanded and also established a Research and Development unit at Rasayani. They have come out of the SICK Unit/BIFR status, set up a captive power plant and are in the process of upgrading to ISO 9001:2008 Standards.
