About Swadeshi Polytex Ltd

Swadeshi Polytex limited (SPL) was established in Mar.70 in India by Swadeshi Cotton Mills Company. The firm collaborated with Clickers Zimmer Frankfurt Germany and manufactures polyester staple fibre. R Ramkrishna is the present chairman of the firm. In 1981, SPL obtained a letter of intent to raise its production capacity from 6100 tpa to 12200 tpa, however, only in 1986 when Rajaram Jaipuria, acquired control over the company they moved to increase capacity from 10000 tpa to 14 000 tpa. 33 shares of the company are held by National Textile Corporation (NTC) the largest shareholder, while 24 shares are held by the Calcutta-based Swarup Group. The company has since faced difficulty and operations and production for 1999-2000 has been suspended leading to an erosion of the networth of over 50%. SPL therefore filed a Form C in accordance with the provisions of SICA with the BIFR.
