About State Trading Corporation of India Ltd

State Trading Corporation of India Ltd is a government-owned international trading company that deals with export-import and domestic trading of both agricultural and nonagricultural commodities. These include foodgrain, castor oil, coffee, cashew, tea, bullion, vanaspati, edible oils, pulses, hydrocarbons, metals, minerals, fertilizers, and more. It has one subsidiary, STCL Ltd. They originally traded with Eastern European countries but now have customers from around the world. During the 199495 period, they started trading additional items such as rice, wheat, coffee, and Indian-made foreign liquor. In 200102, they re-entered the sugar export business and have since been trading with countries such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Sudan. The company also signed a MoU with India Household and Healthcare Ltd for the import of LG Care FMCG. In 200408, the company forayed into new imports such as sugar, FMCG, and IT products. To add to the list of their activities, they also acquired a plot of land at Paradip port and also started tea operations in Nilgiri, Tamil Nadu. The company has achieved great recognition such as the MoU Excellence Award from the Department of Public Enterprises, and International Trade House of the Year Award. Through their subsidiary, they have set up chilli processing plant in Byadagi and two pepper processing and chilli sterilisation plants in Siddapur and Chhindawara respectively. They have also entered into a joint venture and are setting up a food testing laboratory at Chindwara.
