About Majestic Auto Ltd

Majestic Auto Limited (MAL) was founded in 1986, and became public the same year. They manufactured 50 cc mopeds which were sold under the Pacer Panther and Ankur brands. Realizing the slow growth in the market, they upgraded their capacity in 1988 by setting up a plant in Ghaziabad Uttar Pradesh for manufacturing 65cc Hero Puch mopeds-this however, impacted the company’s bottom line. To make a turnaround, the company shifted focus to the export market and the flip was quick- exports increased by 75% to Rs 6.58 cr and their sales realisation increased by 50%. During 1995, their plant was awarded the ISO 9002 certification and they launched two more models- BMW 650 Funduro and a 74 cc Scooter Hero Winner. The installed capacity for their motorized two-wheelers was then upgraded to 350 cc to 230000 units. In 2004, the company demerged its Ghaziabad unit and merged with Hero Auto Limited. Every 100 shares in Majestic Auto Limited were substituted with 10.39 shares of Hero Auto Limited. The company is now aiming to launch a 50 CC high power moped for export by the end of this year.
