About Kamat Hotels (India) Ltd

Kamat Hotels India Limited (KHIL) was established in 1986 by the Mumbai-based Kamat Group managing a 245-room 5-star hotel near the Mumbai domestic airport. The Initial Public Offering (IPO) in Oct. 1994 was for expansion of The Kamats Plaza, The Company has since come up with additional projects such as a Tour and Travel Division and Hotel and Catering Institute in Bombay. Kamat Hotel India Limited (KHIL) has also signed an MoU for managing a 94-room residential hotel at Bandra, along with 25 acres of land purchased in Kumarakum, Kerala for a resort. Asia’s first Ecofriendly, 5-star hotel The Orchid was made operation with 245 rooms during 19992000 and won various awards for contributions to sustainable tourism. KHIL also entered a contract to manage Hotel Siddharth at Nashik, Maharashtra for 35 years and increased shareholding of B.W Highway Star Private Limited from 26 to 75 by acquiring 49 Equity Share Capital. KHIL also increased the share capital of B.W Highway Star Private Limited and bought remaining 20.84 shares till February 2013. During 201112, the third phase of refurbishing of The Orchid lodge was completed. Fort Mahodadhinivas Palace Private Limited, Kamats Restaurants India Pvt Ltd., and Fort Jadhavgadh Hotels Pvt Ltd. became wholly owned subsidiaries of the Company and the name of B.W Highway Star Pvt. Ltd. was changed to Orchid Hotels Pune Pvt. Ltd. (OHPPL). During 201213, OHPPL became a wholly owned subsidiary by transferring 16.67 shares in the paid-up capital of OHPPL. Jadhavgadh Hotels Private Limited ceased to be a subsidiary in 201314.
