About Indsil Hydro Power & Manganese Ltd

Incorporated in 1990, Indsil Electrosmelts (IEL) is a company that manufactures ferro silicon and aluminium ferro silicon products. The company came out with a public issue in 1993 for setting up a 12-crore unit for producing 7800 tonnes per annum of ferro silicon. To ensure power supply for the unit, the company signed MoUs with the state electricity boards and was exempted from electricity duty and power cuts for 5 years by the Kerala Government. In 1997, a 10/15 MVA furnace was added as part of the expansion and during 1998-99, the company was awarded the KSIDCS Awards for Excellence in recognition of their outstanding performance. In 2000, the company commissioned a 7 MW generator as a part of its Hydro Electric Power Project in Kerala which was the largest private hydel scheme in the State and was completed within 28 months of the commencement of works. The full commercial operations began in August 2000.
