About Chrome Silicon Ltd

VBC Ferro Alloys is a public limited company based in Andhra Pradesh, India. They were incorporated in 1981 and specialize in manufacturing ferro silicon, and had a technical collaboration with Elkem Metallurgy Norway in order to do so. In 1989, they had an issue of 2.29 lac 14 PCDs of Rs 350 to expand the ferro silicon capacity to 15000 tpa and diversify by producing 16000 tpa of low phosphorous pig iron. Due to unremunerative market conditions for ferro silicon, they switched to manufacturing high-carbon ferro chrome, but were not successful due to low capacity utilisation and power cuts. As a result, they became sick and were referred to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). The rehabilitation package prepared by IDBI was approved by the BIFR and the financial institutions, and in 1999-2000 M/s TUV Germany awarded VBC Ferro Alloys with an ISO 9002 Certificate.
