About Sambandam Spinning Mills Ltd

Established in 1973, S P Ratnam is the chairperson and S P Sambandam is the managing director of SSL, a textile manufacturer based in Tamilnadu, India. SSL has three spinning mills, two within Salem district and one in Coimbatore district, with a combined spinning capacity of 47.356. SSL went public in Jan. 1995, with a premium of Rs 40 per share to fund the expansion programme aiming to increase the capacity to 50,460 spindles, to be achieved by Mar. 1997. The company set up a windmill project, generating 225 kW power in Coimbatore district in Sep. 1995, earning Rs 33 lac in 199596 and Rs 98 lac in 199697 in foreign exchange. Moreover, SSL was granted the ISO 9002 Quality Accreditation certificate by SGS in May 1998 and in the fiscal years 19992000 it availed term loans of Rs 1070 lakhs and repaid term loans of Rs 316 lakhs. It also incurred capital expenditure of Rs 187 lakhs in the same year.
