About S P Apparels Ltd

S.P. Apparels Limited (SPAL) is a leading manufacturer and exporter of knitted garments for infants and children in India. The company offers integrated manufacturing from greige fabric to finished products and also retails menswear garments in India under the brand Crocodile. SPAL operates on a hub and spoke business model and has 24 manufacturing facilities across Avinashi Tamil Nadu. In August 2016, the company came out with an IPO which included 8022388 equity shares as a fresh issue. During the financial year ended 31 March 2016 the company added 120 new sewing machines and 15 new retail stores. In the same year, the company successfully converted 7249454 numbers of 6 Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares into equity shares. During the financial year ended 31 March 2017, SPAL expanded its capacity by adding a few machines and 300 new sewing machines. It also rebalanced its dyeing and finishing capacities and increased its large format stores. The subsidiary SPUK commenced business with new customers and developed new products. This new product mix in the garment division improved worker efficiency and contributed to the growth of revenue margins.
