About Oswal Agro Mills Ltd

Oswal Agro Mills Ltd., was incorporated in 1979 and promoted by Abhey Oswal. With four divisions: sugar, petrochemicals, agro-producing, and engineering projects, the company took over a petrochemicals and alcohol-based chemical complex of Union Carbide in 1989. This was India's first naphtha cracker unit, producing ethylene for captive consumption, along with low density poly ethylene LDPE and other raw materials for the chemical and plastic industries. As part of their expansion and diversification, OAML has increased the capacity for the manufacture of toilet soaps and sugar, created a plant to manufacture agro-based products, and plans to manufacture high-value chemicals with the various by-products. Their engineering projects division is fully equipped to address high-value orders on a turnkey basis. In 2001, the company sold its sugar unit in Phagwara. In 1998-99, the petrochemicals unit had gone through a suspension/lockout. Along with this, they are in the process of diversifying into commercial shipping activities.
