About Modern Insulators Ltd

Modern Insulators MIL, a public limited company member of the Modern Group, manufactures various types of high tension HT insulators up to 400 kV, with an installed capital capacity of 6000 tpa. It is in technical collaboration with Siemens Germany and produces sectional and post insulators, solid core insulators, bushings for transformers, apparatus insulators, and long rod and line post insulators. Despite institutional reliefs, MIL continued to face technical problems and incur losses, leading to a registration with the BIFR. However, a reference made to the BIFR on the basis of the company's audited accounts for the period ending 31 Oct. 1992 indicated a positive net worth, leading to deregistration. In Oct. 1995, MIL came out with a rights issue to implement a capacity expansion from 5000 tpa to 6000 tpa. It was awarded a Certificate of Merit by CAPEXIL for outstanding export performance in the year 1997-98 and is now planning to increase exports in Mexico, China, and Egypt.
