About Madras Fertilizers Ltd

MFL is a public sector undertaking operating from Chennai, India. Originally incorporated in 1966, MFL commenced commercial production in 1971 and included National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) as a shareholder in 1972. MFL manufactures a range of products, from fertilizers to bioproducts, and is accredited with ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 certification. A fluidized bed prill cooling system was commissioned in 2003, however, the company faced a major setback when the Indian Government implemented a new pricing policy for Urea in 2004, reducing the company's net worth. Subsequently, recommendations were submitted to the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE) to review the performance of MFL, thereby saving the company from liquidation.
