About High Energy Batteries (India) Ltd

Simco Meters Ltd SML, formerly High Energy Batteries HEBL, was established by the Air Government of India in 1979 to develop and manufacture replacement 45Ah silver oxide zinc aircraft batteries. Since then, HEBL has focused on developing multiple types of high energy batteries and has in-house RD laboratories with 32 scientists and engineers. In 1997, the company upgraded its installed capacity for Silver Zinc Batteries from 10L to 24L Ampere Hours and achieved the ISO 9001 certification from Underwriters Laboratories in 1998. Orders worth Rs.5 crore have also been received. Moreover, HEBL has received a National Award for excellence in defence equipment indigenisation, developed a primary battery for missiles, initiated research on Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries, and developed a space quality High Rate Silver Zinc Cells. The company is also upgrading its technology regularly to ensure leading standards.
