Hariyana Ship Breakers Ltd (526931)

Incorporated in 1981, Hariyana Ship Breakers Limited (HSBL) was founded by Shanti Sarup Agarwal, Rajeev Agarwal, Sanjeev Agarwal and Rakesh Agarwal. The company mainly operates in two areas: ship breaking and trading activities in HR Coils. The ships are purchased from both Indian and foreign companies which HSBL breaks at the renown Alang Ship Breaking Yard. Thus far, the company has broken a total of 21 ships, including M V Chidambaram, one of the biggest passenger liners ever owned by an Indian company. However, difficulties arose in 1992 and 1993 due to a shortage of both ships for breaking and foreign exchange for importing ships; nevertheless, Hariyana Ship Breakers Limited was able to secure the approval of the Bombay High Court in 2007 for the amalgamation of Hariyana Fashions Private Limited and Hariyana Machinery Exports Private Limited. As a result, 1166667 Equity Shares of Rs. 10 were allocated to the shareholders of these companies, who were also entitled to receive full dividend for the year ending March 2007.
