Company Information

Waterbase Ltd, a Thapar Group aquaculture company based in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, is the largest Indian player in the aquaculture industry. Established in 1987, the company's 100 integrated aquaculture EOU was funded by a public issue of equity shares in 1992 and subsequently expanded to a capacity of 35,000 tpa in 1995. It has also obtained European Union approval for exports in 2001 and has obtained its United States FDA approval, allowing it to export high quality value added products to the USA. In addition, its feed mill was accredited with ISO 9002 and has sold two new extensive shrimp feeds,Supreme and Magnum,in 1998/99. Unfortunately, the company has been losing money for a few years, leading to the decision to adjust its accumulated losses with the share premium. This followed a Family Settlement Agreement which led to the realigning of Thapar Groups amongst the four Thapar brothers. As a result, the company is in favor of IMT.
