About Veejay Lakshmi Engineering Works Ltd

Veejay Lakshmi Engineering Works (VLEWL) was incorporated in Aug 1974 and is overseen by V J Jayaraman and his family. The company manufactures textile machinery, such as spinning and twisting machines, as well as cotton yarn. In 1993-94, they acquired a running textile mill at Udumalpet with 7696 spindles which they modernised before increasing the capacity to 11520 spindles. The new mill in Mettupalayam has a capacity of 15360 spindles. They have also entered into a joint venture with Savio Machine Tessili to produce automatic cone winders and have ordered laser cutting machinery from Japan. VLEWL currently export their machinery to Mexico, Egypt, Turkey and Indonesia and have achieved 100 exports of textile machinery from the Federation of Indian Textile Engineering Industry in 1999-2000, winning their special award. Furthermore, they have achieved certification from TUV Germany for their engineering units.
