About Va Tech Wabag Ltd

V.A Tech Wabag Ltd is a global player in water treatment and offers complete life cycle solutions for sewage, desalination and reuse, among other services. The company operates out of offices in India, Austria, the Czech Republic, China, Switzerland, Algeria, Romania, Tunisia, UAE, Libya and Macao. It also has an R&D centers in Chennai, India and Vienna and Winterthur, Austria and Switzerland. It assumed its current name in 1999 after the Austrian group VA Tech acquired the water business of Deutsche Babcock. The company entered the municipal segment in 2000, began operations and maintenance work in 2002 and in 2006 its majority shareholding was acquired by various private owners. Over the years, it expanded its reach through Overseas Direct Investments, and as of March 2018, had 18 subsidiaries, 3 associates, and a Joint Venture entity. During 2018, the company earned a dividend income of Rs. 20 crores from overseas investments and incorporated a subsidiary in Brazil. As part of business restructuring and expansion plans the company formed branches in Argentina and Dubai and completed a Desalination Project in Muscat, Oman in 2016.
