About Tanfac Industries Ltd

Tanfac Industries Ltd, located in Chennai, is a joint venture between Aditya Birla Group and TIDCO. It produces 9000 tons of aluminium fluoride annually, as well as sulphuric acid, oleum, cryolite, and other fluorides. In 1998-99, they completed a diversification project for the manufacture of Organo Fluorine Chemicals, sourced from Dalian F Chem in China and used in the production of antibiotics and drugs such as Ciprofloxacin and Enrofloxacin. However, operations in their new project for manufacture of DFCA were suspended due to low market prices in 2000-01. The company's R&D team has created a new process to manufacture inorganic fluorine chemicals with minimum added equipment in their existing plant.
