About Spel Semiconductor Ltd

Spel Semiconductor Ltd., previously known as Spic Electronics and Systems Ltd., was founded in 1984 and converted into a public limited company in 1986. To finance the setting up of a sophisticated electronic project to produce computer tapes, diskettes, jumbo rolls, and integrated circuits, the company released public shares in 1988. It entered into a technical collaboration with Computer Resources, US, and obtained the ISO 9002 certificate for integrated circuit packing operations. In 1995, the company was converted into a 100% Export Oriented Unit (EOU) under the Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) Scheme. As a result, the company was able to focus more on exports. To meet the increasing demand of ICs, the company is planning to add 56 and 80 pin ICs. It was also granted a renewal of Licence to operate as an EOU under the EHTP Scheme for a period of up to December 2004. In 2000-01, the company developed and supplied an 8 pin single inline IC Package to a new customer. With the increased capacity and additional types, the company is ready to face the demand of ICs.
