Established in 1933, Sutlej Industries Ltd. has come a long way, from spinning and processing cotton to diversifying its products. The company was recognized by the Synthetic and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council in 199192 for the highest exports in polyester-cotton blended yarn category, and awarded a certificate of merit by the President of India. It recently completed expansion of 6048 spindles at its Kathua unit, and is exploring the possibility of setting up a denim fabric project. Additionally, it issued 2,18,000 Non Convertible Debentures of Rs. 100 each to Army Group Insurance Fund by way of private placement. With an objective to deliver the best quality services, it was granted ISO 9002:1994 certification for its unit nos. 4 and 5 of its unit Chenab Textile Mills Kathua. Furthermore, it completed modernisation-cum-upgradation scheme in 19992000 (7680 spindles) and 200203 (Rs. 35.50 crores). The Company has set-up a Fabric project and is planning for modernization with an estimated Rs.32 crores in 200304. With their pre-eminence, Sutlej Industries Ltd. has come a long way and is surely leading the way in fabrics and clothing industry.
