About Sharat Industries Ltd

Sharat Industries Limited (formerly known as Sharat Seafoods) was established in 1990 and became a public company in 1992. It is engaged in aquaculture, processing shrimps, hatching seed and feed. The civil works and machinery for its processing plant have been imported, but the commissioning was delayed due to the adverse conditions of the aqua industry. The company has taken active steps to prevent the virus from affecting its crop, which has resulted in good yields. In 1999, it was declared a “sick industrial company” and since then has been in the process to refer itself to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). In 2000, IFCI was appointed as its operating agency.
