About Sakthi Sugars Ltd

Sakthi Sugars Limited (SSL) was established in May 12 1961 and is engaged in the production of sugar, industrial alcohol, power, and soya products. SSL has an installed capacity of 19000 tons per day of cane crush and 92 MW from its three cogeneration plants, and the facilities to process 90000 tons of soya beans per annum. They took over a 1250 TCD sugar unit in 1991, and a 2500 TCD sugar unit during 1991-94. SSL also has two distilleries and a foundry with a 24000 TPA capacity. They have also set up a 100000 TPA unit for the production of refined oil, deoiled cake, and other products. A new disamatic foundry wing was established in 1997 and a 35 MW cogeneration plant was approved in 2003. In addition, an incidental 2 MW cogeneration at Sivaganga Sugar Unit and 32 MW at Sakthi Nagar Sugar Unit was set up in 2002 and 2003 respectively. Further, Sakthi Soyas was merged with the SSL and a joint venture with TNPL was established. Furthermore, the company has also acquired an ethanol plant capable of producing 50000 ltrs a day and an equity of 3641000 shares were allocated to foreign investors in 1997. By 2008, the company has also acquired an Arvika Gjuteri AB and recently in 2018, Sakthi Auto Component Limited ceased to be an Associate Company. Additionally, the Board of Directors has approved the sale of the Dhenkanal Sugar and Distillery Units in Orissa State and the Soya Unit at Marchinaickenpalayam Pollachi at Coimbatore in 2022.
