About Jagatjit Industries Ltd

Jagatjit Industries (JIL) is a distillation and rectification plant initially established for manufacturing potable and non-potable spirits. In 1947, the company took up production of carbon dioxide gas, and in 1963 moved to the production of malt and maltextract products. Currently, the promoter of JIL, L P Jaiswal holds 37 in the company, and the worth of its liquor business is Rs 500 Crore. It has multiple brands under its portfolio – Aristocrat Black Velvet and Fotune Gold, which are in the popular price range, Binnies potato chips, PET containers , Teachers scotch whisky, Brown Forman alcoholic beverages, and Viva and Maltova health drinks. Recently, JIL sold these two drinks to SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare for Rs 86.25 Crore. The market of health drinks, which Viva and Maltova enjoy 8% market share of, is estimated at 90,000 tones per annum. JIL will continue to focus on its core area, alcohol.
