About Global Offshore Services Ltd

Garware Shipping Corporation (GSCL) was established in 1976 in India by B D Garware and Ashok Garware is the current chairman. The company operates general cargo vessels for various clients such as the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and offers services such as underwater exploration and construction activities. In 1990, the company set out on an expansion programme with a cost estimate of Rs 15 crore to acquire 3 conventional cargo ships. To meet working capital and long term needs, the company issued a rights issue at a premium of Rs 8 in 1996.

The trend of higher charter hire earnings went on through the year, as well as plans to increase tonnage for better opportunities. GSCL also released a rights issue at a premium of Rs 12 in 1994 for modernisation and capital expenditure. Unfortunately, in October 1994 the company's vessel M V Shivneri ran aground and was declared a constructive total loss by the insurer.
